yin yoga workshop

sunday 3 april 2011 5-6.30pm, le chable

yoga as practised in the west is almost exclusively yang or muscular in nature. the yin aspect of yoga (using postures that stretch connective tissue) is unknown by many but vital for a balanced approach to physical & mental health.

suitable for all levels of students, yin yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic & muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasise internal heat & the lengthening & contracting of muscles. yin yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis & lower spine & the postures are held for longer with the muscles relaxed.

jumping back and jumping through – an ashtanga vinyasa workshop

a one-off workshop on friday 18 february 2011 at triyoga primrose hill, london

one of the fundamental movements in ashtanga yoga is the jump back and jump through, which forms part of every vinyasa. in practice, many people find jumping back and jumping through difficult and may practise ashtanga vinyasa yoga for years without ever mastering it. how often do we think “my arms are too short” or “i’m not strong enopugh to do this”? in effect, we’ve already given up before we’ve event tried.

in this workshop we will look at ways to work toward achieving the jump back and jump through by combining various techniques with breath, bhanda, foundation and a positive attitude. with a little bit of patience, perserverance and effort, anything can become possible.

for all levels except complete beginners
